Online Benefit for Charley's Fund

Aidan's Grandma Judy organized an online benefit in April for Charley's Fund that raised over $6000. Plans are underway to hold another in the fall. Stay tuned!


Mike Qualifies for Kona Again - Twice

Mike Vanderhyde is a long-time friend, more like family really. He's always been athletic - a skier, a runner, a wind surfer. Over the past few years, he's channeled his athletic efforts into the triathalon, aiming for the "granddaddy" of them all - the Ironman in Kona.

Mike's picture after last year's Ironman in Kona told the story - no more Ironmans. But go figure! This year he qualified for the Ironman again. Twice! Once in Kona earlier this year and just recently again at Couer d'Alene. Not only that, he placed fourth in his age category and 45th overall.

Mike is a strong supporter of Charley's Fund. In addition to donating funds that are raised from his triathalons, he's also coaching others in the sport and donating those earnings to CF.


Gourmet Dinner in Snoqualmie

On August 24, 2008 at the home of Mary and Larry Weeks (Also friends, but really family!) on Snoqualmie Ridge, Chef Matt Weeks and his three helpers (the two Kyles & Larry), put on a fantastic six-course gourmet dinner to raise money for Charley's Fund. Over $6000 was raised! Thanks to the chef, the "kitchen help," the hosts, and all who attended. (Note from the editor: "It wasn't a hardship to support CF with this incredible food and great company!")


Hood to Coast - 2007

Inspired by the "Run/Walk for Aidan," a group of Newport High School runners, organized by Dan Hutchins, ran the 2006 Portland to Coast High School Challenge. One of the runners, Neon Soldiers, placed 4th with a time of 14:41:05.
